The Summit Academy South
Dear Families,
We are getting a few questions about what is going on with our building, so I want to take a few minutes and answer some questions.
In the vein of continuous improvement, we have been trying to find a building that would allow us to provide more opportunities and programs for our families. In January of 2025, we started looking at the building on Goddard Ranch Ct. During the building search process, we put in ALL of the addresses of our families and made sure that there was not a huge disruption to our families’ commute time. At the time, there was not a family whose commute time would be lengthened more than 6 minutes, and most of them would save time or stay the same because we would be right off the highway. This was very important to us! Since the building at Goddard Ranch Ct would check several boxes for us, we proceeded with pursuing obtaining the building. This process has been ongoing since January.
In May, we told our current families, on the last day, that we were in the process of procuring the building through a location and extent process in Jefferson County. We turned in our paperwork to the county in July, and we are currently on the agenda for 8/27 at 6:00 pm. All signs point to the county approving our location and extent. There is one hurdle after the county that we will still need to climb over, but we are working on it as I write this.
With this said, the procurement of the building would move our location for both days to the same location at 19316 Goddard Ranch Ct. in Morrison. It is just past Indian Hills on 285, if you are heading up toward Conifer, and it is just before North Turkey Creek, if you are heading down to Denver. This location change would go into effect for this school year, 2025-26, which is why we moved the start date back a week to give us time to get the building ready. We had targeted having this decision made back in August, which is why we started sending in paperwork back in March, but as they say, “the best laid plans.”
To clarify, you would still attend the day that you registered for back in May. Our program is still, for the most part, a one-day-a-week program with no plans to adjust this. We intend to keep our program the same as it is outlined on our website and in the Family Handbook. We would just have more opportunities to serve more families and to serve them better. Having our own building would allow for more family activities, more middle school and high school events, better resources, opportunities to display student work, providing a playground for kids, and much more. Please reach out to me at ataussig@jeffcoschools.us if you have any questions I can answer.
Sincerely,
Allycia Taussig
