September 24th- October 6th are the state October Count Days where our attendance will be tracked for per pupil revenue. It is very important for students to attend these days so we can get the appropriate state funding for our school. We never want students to come to school if they are ill but if at all possible we would love to see 100% attendance this week. Thank you for your support.

We’re excited to announce an all-school field trip to Miller Farms on October 31st! Please note that the trip is weather-dependent. More details will be shared soon, so stay tuned for additional information.

In keeping with JA policy, students can not wear costumes to school on Halloween. Instead, we’ll celebrate with a Spirit Day on October 30th, and we’re looking forward to our all-school field trip to Miller Farms on October 31st!

We were unable to complete our lockdown drill last Wednesday as Jeffco Safety and Security resources were needed elsewhere. We will reschedule the drill and communicate when we have a date.

We have one parent who has volunteered to be a voice for our community, WOOHOO! More are welcome if anyone is interested in being a part of the Jefferson Academy School Accountability Committee.

Meetings are one hour (5:30pm-6:30pm) and are held the first Wednesday of the month. You can participate in person at the JA Elementary campus or virtually. Teamwork in Action: Middle schoolers lend a hand unpacking a big delivery!

6th grade parents an email was sent last week about two outdoor lab meetings with Mrs. Mott. One is scheduled for before school and one after school to help accommodate everyone please plan on having one parent/guardian attend one of the meetings.

Meeting times are:

• Tuesday, September 23rd @ 3:30pm

• Thursday, September 25th @ 8:00am

We are still looking for adult volunteers to help out in the building. Some of our needs are one time or short term needs and are often requested by teachers or shared in these weekly principal notes. Our biggest school day needs for the year are helping with lunch supervision and parking lot safety.

Lunch supervision is about an hour a day from 11:30-12:30 and parking lot supervision is about 20-30 minutes a day from 3:15-3:45. 

We have had no volunteers step up for parking lot duty so far, so we are still in great need. We will train you, give you a really cool vest and maybe even a stop sign! 

We have had a couple of parents step up for lunch supervision in the last couple of weeks and we are so grateful, but we never want one or two people to shoulder all of the responsibility.  Even committing to one day a week is so helpful. We will train you and give you exclusive access to a walkie talkie!
