Welcome back to school! We hope your break was restful and filled with joy. The first half the year flew by and we are looking forward to what the new year has to offer. Thanks for the constant support and trusting the staff at JA CCC with your child(ren), we are honored that you choose our small yet mighty community every day.
I wanted to share a couple of updates in relation to some goals we set at the beginning of the year. The first two are an update on the goals we set for our Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). Writing a UIP is required by the State of Colorado, and is based in data driven decision making. Our two UIP goals and our progress towards meeting them are:
Early Literacy Goal: By the end of the 2025–26 school year, 60% of K–3 students will earn a composite (overall) score at or above grade-level benchmark on the DIBELS 8 assessment.
Currently, 68% of our K–3 students are at or above grade level. This is exciting news, as early literacy is a cornerstone of long-term academic success.
ELA Growth Goal: Kindergarten through 8th grade ELA MAP growth will reach the 53rd percentile by the end of the 2025–26 school year.
Our current schoolwide growth is in the 67th percentile in Reading MAP. JA CCC has consistently been a high-achieving school, which made setting a growth goal especially important. We are committed to meeting each student where they are academically and supporting continuous growth for all learners.
In addition to these goals, we are proud to share several other positive data points:
Math MAP growth is at the 61st percentile during the winter assessment window, up from the 49th percentile in the fall.
Math achievement has increased by 8% since the beginning of the year.
Reading achievement has increased by 7%, and we currently have no students performing well below benchmark at JA CCC.
As we move into the second semester of the 2025–26 school year, we remain focused and committed to continued growth. We will use this data to guide targeted instruction for all learners, knowing that sustained growth can be tricky and takes intentional effort. We are encouraged by the progress so far and hopeful that these strong trends will continue through the end of the year.
Individual student data along with first semester grade reports will be coming home in Friday folders over the next couple of weeks.
Warmly,
Principal Mott
