Just a friendly reminder to 4th-7th grade band students that THURSDAY is BAND DAY!!!
We have had a number of students each Thursday coming to the office asking to call home to have parents/guardians drop off instruments for them.
Three of the SOAR traits we encourage our students to display can be met with them remembering their instruments. O for ownership, coming to school with everything you need to be successful. A for achievement, students are unable to achieve full success if they don’t have the tools they need for success. R for respect, it is very difficult for Mrs. Gardner to teach students the lessons she develops when they come to class unprepared and also recognizing that it is respectful to remember their items so parents/guardians are not inconvenienced.
Thank you for reinforcing these traits with your 4th-7th grader and coming up with a weekly plan to help students remember their instruments.
The library is looking for donations to do a project with the middle school students. We are looking for easy reader books (that we can destroy 😁) The books need to be in good shape, easy to read, but still tells a story - think Frog and Toad, Green Eggs and Ham, There’s a Monster at the End of this Book, etc)
If you have any of these sitting around we would love to have them.
Making lanterns to celebrate the Chinese New Year!
Just a quick reminder to send your child with a water bottle to school each day. We've had ALOT of forgotten water bottles this month, and we’ve gone through an entire case of disposable water bottles since the beginning of January.
Each classroom will be having a Valentine’s Day party the last hour of the day on February 12th. Teachers will send home information requesting volunteers (if needed), supplies needed, class lists and details for exchanging Valentines soon.
Our state CMAS testing is quite a ways off but wanted to make sure families get these dates on their calendars. We are asking all families to make their best effort to not plan trips or appointments during the window. The dates for the testing window are April 7th-April 25th.

This week's core value aligns so closely with one of the SOAR character traits we ask our students to display each day, ownership. The core value is “ we are responsible for ourselves and accountable to each other”. Here are some ways we can display this core value
Support student responsibility – Encourage children to manage their time, complete assignments, and resolve conflicts independently. Sharing daily schedules is a great way to give everyone a heads up with what's coming and help those all important time management skills.
Communicate with teachers – Stay informed and engaged in students' progress and challenges.
Model accountability at home – Demonstrate responsibility in daily routines and decision-making. Sometimes kids need us to model taking ownership when making a mistake so they know how to respond when they make a mistake.
Get involved- One of the best ways to show responsibility and be accountable for our community is to get involved. Whether it be volunteering for a school event, attending a PTO meeting or reaching out to a teacher to see what they might need help with any little bit helps to make our community strong and it lightens the load for all.
Ralston Valley is hosting a Spring Flag Football League at their school. This is the first year offering it to kids. This program is offered to kids from Kindergarten-7th grade.
